Mello pounded down the stairs in the early morning. He rubbed his eyes and walked into the kitchen.
"Mom, do we have any chocolate left?"
His mother was a short woman, about 5 feet 2 inches. Short light blond curls rapped around her face. Her big blue eyes looked down on the 9 year old Mello and she smiled.
"Of course, dear" She handed him a chocolate bar."Why the stomping this morning?"
"I couldn't sleep." Mello sighed as he bit into his chocolate bar."I had a nightmare.."
His mom lightly hugged him around his neck. "It's ok, honey. What was this nightmare about?"
His mom always tired not to treat Mello like a child. She knew he was special.
"I-It was about you and father.." Mello put down his chocolate and his face changed from annoyed to sad. "You..You both died on a train..and Miche and me were all alone..then Miche disappeared.."
His mom sat her head lightly on his. "Well, it's all over now. Nothing to worry about." She lifted her self up and smiled at him and he smiled back.
"Yeah, what time is it? I finally decided to come down when it got lighter outside."
"6 o' clock. Exactly." His mom answered as she poured him a glass of milk. "But it's ok. You can sleep all day if you like."
"No way!" Mello rejected as he took the milk from her. "I wanna go to the park with Miche! You said we could play soccer today, remember?"
"Oh, yes. If you're up to it, we can go." She sat down atthe table and Mello joined her.
"When do you think Miche will be awake?" Mello asked eagerly.
"Probably soon. He's a light sleeper just like you." She took a sip of her coffee.
"Miiiiiihaeeelll!" His brother called from upstairs."You left your underwear by my bed again!"
Miche walked down the stairs, he was a boy of 10 years. He had light brown short hair pointing all over the place from his rough sleep.
"Sorry, Miche." Mello blushed and waved to his brother who walked into the kitchen.
"Morning, Mom." Miche smiled to his mother, who, of course, smiled back.
"Morning, hun. What would you like for breakfast?" She started to get up from the table.
"Don't worry, I'll get it. You look comfortable."
She sat back down and nodded. Miche started searching the fridge.
He made himself a bagel slathered in cream cheese and joined them at the table.
"Chocolate again, Mihael?" He said as he snapped off a tiny piece of the bar and tossed it into his mouth.
"Hey! Miche! That was mine!" Mello whined to his brother who smiled.
"Oh, come on. It's just a tiny piece."
Mello grumbled as he snapped off another piece with his teeth.
"Leile!" Their fathers loud voice made their hearts jump.
"Yes, dear?" Mello's mother answered.
"Where's the toothpaste?"
"Left drawer." She called up and smiled."Dear, We're going to the park later, would you like to come?"
Their father came down the stairs fixing his tie. He was a man about 6 feet 1 inch tall, light brown hair and green eyes, pretty slim.
"No thanks, dear. I'm going to work today."
"Awww, papa! When will you be able to play with us?" Miche whined. Mello just sat there and ate his chocolate.
Their father walked into the kitchen and patted Miche on the head.
"How about afterschool tomorrow?" He smiled.
"Yay!" Miche threw his arms in the air as his father walked over and kissed his mom.
Their father walked over and got a bagel and cream cheese.
"Well, I best be off." He kissed Leile again and hugged Miche."See you tonight, Leile, Miche, Mihael."
He was gone, Miche sat back down and all was quiet again.
Mello broke the silence, "Mother, when are we leaving for the park?"
"As soon as you guys finish and get dressed."
Miche stuffed the last of his bagel into his mouth and rushed to the stairs. "Bet I'll get ready faster, Mihael!"
Mello put his chocolate bar down and rushed after his brother. "NO WAY!"
They both ran up to their rooms and threw on clothes and brushed their hair.
Leile put a soccer ball and some sun screen into a bag and slid on her shoes.
Mello came tumbling down the stairs with Miche right behind him. Mello slid into the kitchen on his socks and threw his arms in the air. "I WIN! I WIN!"
Miche breathed heavily and slid on his shoes, "You're always first, Mihael!"
Mello joined his brother in putting on his shoes and their mom headed for the door.
"First one to the car wins!" She yelled and flew the door open.
Mello shoved his brother and they both ran to the car, stumbling over each other.
Leile watched them leave and shut the door with a giggle.
